Recommended Individuals

These are some of my favorite authors, and content creators within the Heathen and pagan communities. I’ve done my best to look for resources that provide good information and have moral & ethical tenants I can support and recommend.

Dr Jackson Crawford

Dr Jackson Crawford

A professor of the culture and language. In addition to teaching he has youtube channel for those wanting to learn old norse and for historic information and translations.

Norse Mythology: Real Expertise. No Agendas.

~ Dr. Jackson Crawford

Why I recommend him

He is an excellent neutral source, he doesn’t practice Asatru or Norse paganism so his insights are academic and largely void of personal nosis. He has published his own translations of the Havamal, the Poetic edda among other books. While he has been asked to support various organizations he has declined to publicly support any particular Norse groups. Dr. Crawford did make a statement saying he would not offer his support in any form to organizations that promote racism and hate.

Arith Härger

Youtuber, & researcher with a degree in history and archaeologist, who focuses on Scandinavian and Viking studies.

Why I recommend him

Arith Härger makes really high quality YouTube videos mostly about topics relating to Asatru and Norse heathenry. His videos are well researched and visually engaging. He is a magic practitioner himself so he can lend personal experience to much of what he covers. In particular I love his rune series. It is notable that his practice is not reconstructionist. So while his practice is valid if you are looking for historically accurate this isn’t it.

Why I recommend her

Shauna Aura Knight was my true introduction to transformative rituals and to leadership training within the pagan community. I first met her at a Indianapolis Pagan Pride more than a decade ago. I have been fortunate enough to attend several rituals and classes she has taught. She is a champion for healthy, and inclusive communities. Shauna advocates for this by teaching individuals and groups about healthy and accountable leadership.
