Secrets of Self-care – Magick in the Mundane – Introduction

September is Self-Care month

Self-care is not selfish; it is not a waste of time. Self-care isn’t frivolous spending and self-indulgence or rather its not indulgence alone. It’s an essential component of prevention for distress, burnout, and impairment. Self-care shouldn’t be considered as something “extra” or “nice to do” but only if you have the time.

Self-care is the deliberate choice to maintain your own health and wellness.

Self-care should be a regular practice and through it you can fortify your emotional, physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and social wellbeing. It is foundational to your overall health and well-being. It can be an enchanting magickal practice built from mundane tasks that center around investing in yourself and your happiness.

A robust and health self-care practice is centered on self-awareness. It requires checking in with yourself about the needs of your mind and body so that you can be at your best physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. While much of the conversation around self-care is lighthearted and even frivolous it can also be hard work. It can mean creating health boundaries and setting limits.

There is no ‘One-Size fits all’ to Self-care or wellness. It’s about finding what works for YOU.

Self-care doesn’t mean the same thing to everyone, so it looks different for each person. When you think self-care a cozy bubble bath may be the first thing on your mind, while a 2 mile run is what your coworker thinks of as self-care. I think of a cup of tea, and making my bed as self-care. There are a lot of options and ways to take care of yourself. No matter what self-care means to you you are worthy of the work and kindness to yourself.

Throughout the month I will be adding posts on different aspects of self-care, along with tips tricks and activities.
